FLEETWOOD, Lancs, 08 February, 2009
Although the first team have been sidelined this weekend following their Blue Square North postponement at Gateshead, the Saturday Morning Club youngsters enjoyed their usual weekend run-out with the at Fleetwood Sports College.

The Fleetwood Town coaching sessions for boys and girls are held on the all weather pitches at Fleetwood Sports College and in the school sports hall during the winter months. The club, however, will be shortly switching back to the Memorial Park each Saturday morning.
All coaches are FA qualified and trained in child protection and first aid. Matty Mecklenburgh is currently sidelined from the Fleetwood Town Under 18's team due to injury and is one of the coaches. The 17-year-old is a qualified FA Level One coach and he feels teaching the youngsters is a worthwhile pastime.

“I really enjoy the coaching. My studies take up a great deal of time and the coaching is an ideal way to relax. It keeps me busy and not just on Saturday mornings. I plan sessions during the week and use what I have learnt on the FA course I attended. There’s nothing better than teaching a youngster a move or a drill and seeing them take that skill into a game with them. It makes you fell good about yourself.

“It also shows they are listening and learning which is of benefit. The social side brings them in contact with friends and they learn how to band together as a team. Parents also welcome having their kids using up plenty of energy early in the weekend!
“It’s a safe environment for youngsters as well. All personnel are CRB checked and coaches are first aid trained, “added 17-year-old Matty (below).

Taylor Robson has been a Saturday Morning Club regular for the last two years. Mum Zowie said “Taylor constantly has a football with him. He’s doing really, really well at the club. He lives and breathes football.
“It’s a fantastic setup and the coaches do a good job. It teaches them discipline and respect. Teamwork and listening skills are also included. These things all come together and are important, particularly at this age,” said Zowie with daughter Isobel (pictured - Taylor is in the background).

Taylor even managed a goal in one session on Saturday morning. The Flakefleet Primary youngster said “The keeper lifted his leg up and I belted the ball into the net.”
Youngsters attending for the first time should bring along a Parent/Guardian to sign-up. The sign-up fee is £10 and then £3.50 each session. Holiday soccer clubs are also available.
