Fleetwood Town Juniors have won the Wyre Community Club of the Year 2008. A panel of judges chose the Juniors from all the sports clubs in Wyre. The winners of each category in every local authority in Lancashire are automatically be put forward for the County Awards next month.
To complete the accolade Chris Garrett has been named Wyre Sports Coach of the Year 2008.
Chairman of Fleetwood Town Juniors, Phil Clayton said, "we hope to have a good evening picking up the awards. This is a tremendous achievement by the all concerned in the Junior set-up and the club in general. We've come a long way since joining forces with Fleetwood Town. It's an achievement everyone can be proud of. Chris Garrett's award is the icing on the cake and shows the hard work and dedication he puts into his role. It's good to see his skill and love of the game has been recognised in this way. Parents can also take encouragement when they are looking to involve their daughter or son in a community-based sporting activity. It's a great set-up and there's a place for all children, regardless of ability or knowledge of football"
Fleetwood Town chairman Andy Pilley added, "both the Juniors and Chris Garrett are worthy winners of these two awards. It's a tribute to all the hard work and tremendous progress that has been made by both the Juniors and Chris. So, it's a big round of applause from everyone associated with the club to both Chris and the Juniors."
The county winners will be announced at the Lancashire Sports Awards Evening on Friday 24th October.
