Formby Reserves 1 Fleetwood Town 4
Lancit Haulage League
Thursday, August 28, 2008
by Steve Edwards, Reserves Manager
On what must be the worst pitch in the League, Town produced a very capable performance if not a stunning one. Andy Bell, Colin Potts (pictured), Simon Garner, Lennie Reid, Paul Haddow and Mike Hale all came into the side that drew away at Workington.
Formby were a very youthful side and Hale in the Town goal was only occasionally called into action throughout the game. Bell and Jason Rawcliffe up front could of had a couple of goals a piece by the time Potts opened the scoring on the half hour mark, when he strolled into the penalty area to coolly finish. Bell added a second just before the turn around and the game was effectively over as a contest from then on. Potts got his second soon after the restart when the Formby keeper practically through the ball into his own goal. The diminutive winger completed his hat trick from the penalty spot after Bell was scythed down by the keeper. The game ended with Formby trying to clobber any Town player with the ball and with a stronger referee the home side could quite easily of ended the game with nine players.
