Fleetwood Town Reserves 3-1 Barrow Reserves
13/09/08

FLEETWOOD, Lancs. September 15, 2008

Town Reserves entertained Barrow in the Lancit Haulage League on Friday evening and took all three points. Danny Peswick took a brace and Joel Cowell scored the other. First teamers Danny Hurst and Farrell Kilbane (pictured) completed 90 minutes.

This was the first home game of the season for the Fleetwood Town second string. Just fewer than 100 Highbury spectators saw a fine performance that started well when Town took the lead as early as the fourth minute. Danny Penswick played a neat one- two with Jason Rawcliffe and superbly curled a right foot shot into the top corner. The home side increased their lead on the half-hour when a twenty-yard Joel Cowell effort took a slight defection and cannoned into the net.

The second half started with Fleetwood missing a host of chances as they totally dominated the encounter. The final Town goal came within the last ten minutes when Penswick struck his second close range. Barrow’s only response was a last minute penalty harshly awarded against Danny Hurst for pushing. A solid team performance and many fine individual displays.

Team - Hurst, Charlesworth (Sumner70), Harris, Basag (Wilson
80), Kilbane, Webster, Penswick, Danson, Warwick, Cowell (Kelly60), Rawcliffe.
