Fleetwood Town Res 3-1 Workington Res
08/10/08

FLEETWOOD, Lancs, 27 September, 2008

Fleetwood Town Res 3-1 Workington Res
Lancit Haulage League
Wed 8th October, Kick-off 8:00pm

Fleetwood produced probably their best performance of the season so far to comprehensively beat the current divisional champions. Town were always in command and home keeper Danny Hurst did not have a shot of any note to deal with throughout. Fleetwood, with Ashley Dunn and Danny Penswick (picture 1) in the middle of the park pulling all the strings, were stronger and fitter. If Fleetwood had taken their chances they could have at least doubled their final tally.

They had to be patient until the half hour mark to open the scoring but the goal was worth the wait. Penswick broke into the area and lifted the ball into Jason Rawcliffe's (picture 2) path. He, in turn, spun the defender and smashed the ball into the top corner.

The second half was totally dominated by the home side and despite some crude challenges they continued to play some flowing football. Kyle Webster (picture 3), on for the unfortunate Joel Cowell, should of really put the game to bed with two guilt edged chances but it was Penswick who scored the second He cracked home a shot from the edge of the box, following a half cleared corner. Webster was to get his well deserved goal when he tore into the visitors defence  from just inside their half. Evading a couple of tackles he picked his spot and curled a stunning right footed shot beyond the keeper.

There were plenty of very good performances and the team as a whole can take great credit for entertainment they provide for the home support.

The Reserves are next in action away to Chorley this Friday 10th October. Kick-off 7:45.
