FLEETWOOD, Lancs, 22 November, 2008
Town Reserves 4 Lancaster City Reserves 1
Lancit Haulage League
Friday 21st November 2008
Fleetwood maintainted their grip at the top with this comfortable win over bottom placed Lancaster City. Although it must be said Lancaster looked far from a bottom of the table side as they put Town’s defences under some serious pressure in the second half. Town gave Reserve team debuts to 16 year Ryan Park and under 18 players Jordan Holmes (pictured), Sam Ratcliffe and goalkeeper Nathan Thompson.
Fleetwood had the dream start when within the first thirty seconds Stuart Damson’s long pass sent Bret Dawson clear, who calmly lobbed the out rushing keeper.Town, and s second came shortly after when Dawson headed in from close range. Jason Rawcliffe then made it three within half an hour when Dawson picked him out after a fine left wing run.
With a strong wind behind them Lancaster pushed for some respectability and after 55 minutes they scored following some sloppy defending from the home side. Fleetwood were always a threat on the break and Dawson completed his hat trick with a rasping drive from 25 yards with ten minutes to go.
Town are next in action on December 5th with a home game against Leigh, who will be out to avenge their recent four nil drubbing dished out by the League leaders.
